Hi, my name is Rhonda Thorpe and I live in Abbeville, S.C. I consider myself a degree seeker. I have an AA degree from Piedmont Tech in Greenwood, S.C., a BA degree from Lander University and am currently pursuing my MAT degree from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. I want to eventually earn my Doctorate as well.
I have been married for eleven years to Mitchell and I have one son, Michael, 19 years old. I am also mother to Autumn (Shar-pei), Syndarella (19 lb. cat), Caesar and Maximus (both Huskies) and my sweet baby Sir Nigel (Yorkshire Terrier).
I am a lover of all things art. I eventually want to be Dr. Thorpe, teaching art history. I am an avid reader, a great writer, and murder plotter (never acted upon).
Artist Statement:
My works are usually in acrylic on canvas. I love the wet on wet style. My inspiration comes from within. I am a complex person and I think this comes out in my paintings. I don't like strict rules and do not adhere to them, so wet on wet suits my style. I love applying paint until it feels right and then I just walk away feeling a sense of completeness. I am not like the average artist, who are usually perfectionists. I find perfection in color, not in form.
